Details
Minimum Eligibility Criteria: Previous gym or outdoor climbing experience, ability to climb 5.8 on top rope, understanding of belay techniques common to single pitch climbing, familiarity with lowering and being lowered.
Length: 4 days, approximately 8 hours a day
Maximum Ratio: 4 participants, 1 guide (there will be an additional guide for the tower day)
Minimum Age: Under 18 will need written consent from parent/guardian
Itinerary
Day 1: We’ll jump right in, climbing cracks of all shapes and sizes. Crack climbing technique, taping, and placing gear will be this day’s focus.
Day 2: We will do some mock leading, work on placements, discuss tactics, and anchoring. Oh yea, and more crack climbing!
Day 3: We will travel to another location to work on all things multi-pitch. Belaying from above, anchors, stance management, multi-pitch rappelling, and more.
Day 4: We saved the best for last. You’ll use all the skills learned on previous days and summit a desert tower!

Sticky rubber approach shoes or light hiking/trail running shoes (closed toe mandatory)

Technical Equipment
Harness – UIAA/CE rated climbing harness with belay loop and gear loops. Should be able to fit on the outside of your layers.
Helmet – UIAA/CE rated climbing helmet.
Belay/rappel device – plaquette, tube style device preferred
2 locking carabiners – large, round stock screw gate carabiners that are easily manipulated while wearing gloves
Sticky rubber rock climbing shoes
*All technical equipment will be provided by SAI, but if you have our own, it’s encouraged that you bring it.

800 -1200 calories of food – energy bars, sandwiches, fruits, etc
