In this full day course we will take all of the fundamentals of climbing and apply them to the next level, leading outdoors. Learn LNT practices, the tools necessary to select appropriate equipment for a day of sport cragging. Practice approaches to risk mitigation. Acquire skills in various clipping strategies, rope methodology and techniques including arranging the anchor and threading and lowering from the anchor. Learn all the tools you need to go from the ground, to the anchors and back with industry standard and cutting edge form. We will even cover methods to cope with a changing mindset when climbing above bolts. Our Learn To Lead Sport course is done at a ratio of 4 students to 1 Instructor to maximize contact time ensuring your individualized learning goals are achieved! This course is built for climbers with experience or those who have taken our Intro to Rock Climbing Course.

 


 

Booking Info

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking with the balance due 30 days prior to your trip. If you book a trip within 30 days of the start date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria: Previous gym or outdoor climbing experience, ability to climb 5.8 on top rope, understanding of belay techniques common to single pitch climbing, familiarity with lowering and being lowered 

 

Length: 8 hours

 

Maximum Ratio: 5 participants, 1 guide

 

Minimum Age: Under 18 will need written consent from parent/guardian

Technical Equipment 

Harness – UIAA/CE rated climbing harness with belay loop and gear loops.  Should be able to fit on the outside of your layers.
Helmet – UIAA/CE rated climbing helmet.
Belay/rappel device – plaquette, tube style device preferred
2 locking carabiners – large, round stock screw gate carabiners that are easily manipulated while wearing gloves
Sticky rubber rock climbing shoes

*All technical equipment will be provided by SAI, but if you have our own, it’s encouraged that you bring it.
